Psalm 121:1-8
Proverbs 16:18
The first time I realized that my mother (who raised us as a single parent) slept while I was sleeping, I didn’t like it one bit. I remember waking in the middle of the night to a silent house, with both my sisters sleeping in their room, and my mother sleeping in hers. I was alone in the dark (or so I thought), thinking that anything at all could happen, and there was no one but me at the helm.
I learned differently when I met the Lord. I learned that His eyes never leave me, and that, as this verse says, He watches over me as I sleep, and does not slumber Himself.
Oh, the comfort of those words. The little girl in me and the grown woman I’ve become are both grateful that we’re never alone in the dark; never at the mercy of the night; and never out of our Father’s sight.
But there’s a world full of people out there who don’t know that comfort, and they won’t know, if someone doesn’t tell them.
