Oh, I think you should make this. I really do. What's not to love about potatoes and cheese and butter and cream and bacon? After church yesterday, we gathered with a few friends to watch the playoff game. Seahawks vs. 49ers. And, you know, we were pretty confident that we would come out on top. But still, it's a good idea to have a lot of comfort food around just in case. Jay made some pretty spectacular prime rib, Kathy made her famous chocolate chip cookies, and I made my favorite ... continue reading...

Sunday Dinner: Ham and Copycat Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole
Updated 3/5/20 Oh, how I love Sundays! On the mornings when I'm on the worship team, I arrive early and get to hang out with some of my very favorite people on earth while we go through the morning's worship set. Then people start showing up, and the hugging begins, along with the questions you ask people you haven't seen in three long days, or seven. "How was your week?" and "How did that job interview go?" and "How is your friend we've been praying for?" Then we worship together, in an ... continue reading...
Retro Alert: Tuna Noodle Casserole (Plus a Possibly Paleo Salad)
So, this is embarrassing. I fully expected to have a picture for you. A long-shot, for sure, so you could see all that retro cheesiness in its full glory. But at least one close-up, once the first serving had been removed, so you could see all the individual layers of noodles and French fried onions and, yes, more cheese. And probably a very close shot of a forkful of all that deliciousness heading toward my iPhone camera lens. But somebody put it on the potluck table before I could get the ... continue reading...
Enchilada Casserole
Not too much time today ... I've got my little grandperson toddling around in front and behind me, wanting up one minute and down the next. Gage disapproves of my blogging, so whenever the chance strikes -- say, when something on Sesame Street catches his eye and he forgets me for six seconds -- I type as fast as I can. But I don't mind. As I remember things, these babies grow up much faster than we're comfortable with. So here's a very short, very sneaky post. Enchilada Casserole 2 lbs ... continue reading...
Because They Love It So … Tater Tot Casserole
After twenty-five years of marriage, I finally broke down a few months ago and made my first tater tot casserole. I don't know what possessed me to do so, but I did it, and now there's no turning back ... because they absolutely loved it. Their eyes -- when they could pull them from the sloppy concoction in from of them -- looked on me with adoration and gratitude. Who knew? I had always disdained this particular casserole. Tater tots? I'd think. Really? Can't you think of anything more ... continue reading...
Grocery Shopping for a Quarantine
Is a mandatory quarantine around the corner? It's looking likely. Here's how quickly things are changing: When I started this post, I wrote this: "Here in Washington State, our governor just banned gatherings of 250 or more, and required gatherings smaller than that to have a 6-foot buffer available for attendees. He didn't out-and-out mandate that schools close (he's leaving that decision to county government for now), but that could change. According to the Washington State Department of ... continue reading...
