10 Questions to Help you Conquer Clutter
Catchy title, isn't it? I have to mention this book by Margareta Magnusson because it happens to encompass all of my thoughts and motivations for decluttering. It describes the practice of elderly Swedish people who, facing their final years, purge their homes of unnecessary items so their children don't have to do it when they're gone. Sound familiar? :) So I was browsing a minimalist website last January, and I stumbled on Nourishing Minimalism. Within a few clicks, I found a post about a ... continue reading...

“Five times better” Meatballs
I know I've got a good thing going when Dave tells me four times how good it is, then adds, "These meatballs are five times better than Ikea's, and four times better than Costco's." Wonderful Weeds: Plantain
It’s a bit humbling to discover that the "weed" I've grumbled about so often is actually a powerhouse of goodness. In the old days (circa two weeks ago), I would grit my teeth whenever I saw that “weed” in the driveway, walkway and lawn. It was everywhere. But then I started researching medicinal herbs, and looking in foraging books to see which ones I could find in the wild in the Pacific Northwest. And wouldn’t you know it. My nemesis was actually Plantago, otherwise known as Plantain (not ... continue reading...
Elderberry Syrup … because fall is coming!
So much to tell! Here are the cliff notes: After a lifetime of loving herbs, I finally did something about it. I’ve enrolled in the Intermediate Course at the Herbal Academy of New England and am happily learning all about the difference between adaptogenic, anticatarrhal and carminative herbal actions (among dozens and dozens of others) and whether or not the person in front of me is a vata, pitta or kappa body type. I know! It’s bit more complex than just distinguishing between thyme and ... continue reading...
