Okay, I give up. WordPress ... you win! I will post this with ONE picture. I've been trying since last Wednesday to upload a batch of pictures for this recipe, but until this morning, I couldn't load a single one. And now I have ... a single one. Sorry about that. You'll just have to imagine the spoon close-up, and the bowl close-up, and the picture I managed to snap of Big Foot right outside my kitchen window while I was making this soup. It's a shame. Mine wasn't all blurry and questionable ... continue reading...

Coconut Balls
Good morning! And it is a VERY good morning. Last night I finished a gigantic project. The moment I sent off the last file, I shut my laptop (my loaner laptop, that is. But that's another story), wrapped a blanket around my shoulders, and went outside to stand in the cold and breathe in all that fresh air. A little later, I wrapped Gage up in that blanket and sat us both on the front porch swing to do some more of that fresh-air-breathing, and to listen to all the frogs. Gage and I decided ... continue reading...
Enrage Me
“ I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness. The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, him I will not endure.” ~ Psalm 101:3-4,8 (NKJ) Five of the eight men accused of murdering my young friend shuffle into the courtroom. I am in my usual place, sitting next to Rachel’s mother, third row from the front. Dead center. The bailiffs won’t permit us to sit any closer to the defendants. I’ve lost count ... continue reading...
Snow Tracks
We've had no snow this year, and I can't begin to tell you how heartbreaking that is for me. But last week, my sweet husband took me up to the mountains. Valentine's Day was coming, and we needed a few days to ourselves, and he knew I was missing snow. So he surprised me with two nights in Leavenworth, a Bavarian village tucked up past Stevens Pass in the Cascade Mountains. We packed up the car and drove east to Monroe, where we stopped and bought gas station coffee to go with the ... continue reading...
Roasted Veggies with Mushroom-Merlot Sauce
Don't you just love when cleaning out the fridge becomes something spectacular? Me too. Here I was two nights ago, staring at a very clean fridge but a handful of items that needed tending a.s.a.p, when this little plate just kind of came together. Yay for serendipity! I had the following: asparagus, a handful of sliced carrots and red peppers we had brought with us to Leavenworth but didn't finish, shitake and crimini mushrooms, half a lemon, and three red potatoes left over from the batch I'd ... continue reading...
Avocado Pesto … for pasta, for veggies, for eating off a giant spoon.
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! My husband surprised me with a trip out of town. :) We're spending Valentine's Day in Leavenworth (not the prison. The Bavarian village), so I have a whole day full of cute-store browsing awaiting me. That means ... quick post! I couldn't wait to share this with you. I know I say this a lot, but this seriously my most favorite food now. I've had it six times since whipping up the batch a few days ago. Six. And if there was any left, I would have it a seventh ... continue reading...
