A few years back, while visiting the blog of my beautiful friend, Ann Voskamp, I read about what she called her "Visual Homemaking Journal." It wasn't so much the title but the pictures that grabbed me. I wanted to know how to make one of my own, so I wrote this comment under her post: I’ve been so consumed with an unexpected project that I feel I’ve lost touch with the part of me that walks through my garden, and sits down to knit, and enjoys staring off into space. Something resonated with me ... continue reading...

Those Christmas Stockings
Guess what? Only 360 days till Christmas! Anybody out there ready? No? :) I've had some requests to share the pattern for the Christmas stockings I posted on Facebook. And I planned to do that -- to just tell you the name of the pattern and maybe post a picture or two. But it seems there's not one mention on my pattern, anywhere, of the name or copyright of the thing. And I've had it for 25 years. Go-With-Anything Corn Salsa

Besides being incredibly tasty, this recipe just feels … wholesome. Which is what we’re going for these days. We’re trying to eat as whole food, ... continue reading...
Echoes

No doubt, that played a big part in our decision to name the two brother goats "Grover" and "Elmo." I have no idea why we named the third "Mama Goat," unless it was the fact that she was old enough to have given birth to the other two. Or maybe our brains were tuckered. Mama Goat had horns - sharp, scary horns. I liked her fine when I went out alone to ... continue reading...
Bondslave
I've been looking over my old blog (Windscraps) and noticed that a few are disappearing. Who knows how these things happen? Before they all disappear, I think I'll move a few here to save. This one is a snapshot of life back on January 3, 2005. I had big plans for today. With Christmas vacation over, the kids would be going back to school, and I intended to put Phil Keaggy's "Beyond Nature" in the CD player, pour myself an extra-large mug of hazelnut-laced coffee and work until noon on my ... continue reading...
Bread Recipes With a Bread Machine (or Without): Reconnect With Your Roots
This post contains affiliate links, which means I may receive a commission if you make a purchase using these links. As an Amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. It may be because most of the country is on lock down right now ... and you can only stare at the same four walls for so long ... but I prefer to think that the reason "bread recipes with a bread machine" is a hot topic right now is that people are just taking more interest in bread making. Either way, it's wonderful to ... continue reading...
